Puppy Update!

Ok, so as you may know my Mum's border collie bitch has just had a litter of pups, and Doug and I may be taking one of them off her hands.

However, I've just heard that two of the buyers we had lined up for other pups in the litter have fallen through, and we have two adorable little bundles of black and white fluff who still need homes to go to.

So if you, or anyone you know, might be interested in a pedigree sheepdog puppy, likely to be highly intelligent, of very good temperament and suitable either as a working dog or as a pet, please, please, please let me know.

Does Eddie just not get on with dogs at all?

Because often it's different with a puppy that's grown up along side them. I know Mum's dog, Zeb, did *not* like it at all when we tried to introduce another dog of his own age into the house, but when she got Susie (this current litter's mum) as a pup, Zeb was absolutely fine with her.

He's unpredictable with other dogs, he is friendly but if he thinks they want his toys he gets irritable. We are pondering a second dog but it would take careful introduction. sadly I don't think we're there yet.

Even if now is not the time, a puppy would probably be the best solution if you want a second dog. If they're young, they'll easily learn not to pinch his stuff, and they can establish a proper pack heirachy between them. Where as if a dog's been used to being alpha, they'll have problems adjusting to a more subordinate position. Y'know?

He does rather tend to bully puppies when he meets them, but is getting much better with mature dogs. He has improved since moving, mainly because the dogs round our new area tend to be better trained and politer (there were some very rude dogs in our old park).

A couple of times we have taken in strays/lost dogs and he's been the perfect host with them. There was a fight with one after the 'guest' snarled at me, but that was understandable.

We ponder the second dog question on and off, and so far we have not been confident enough that it wouldnt cause a massive disruption and loads of stress to Eddie. He has to come first after all...
